Self-sabotage is subtle. Usually we don't even realize we are doing it until we see the end results. So how do we nip it in the bud, and stop sabotaging ourselves before we even start, especially when we are trying to use the Law of Attraction to attract to us our heart's desires?
It can be very discouraging when we find ourselves moving in a direction opposite to one we wish to go. One negative thought can lead to another and before we know it we are sitting on the couch, with our head in our hands, wondering how we managed to get here. It is a spiral downwards, but one we don't need to take.
The first thing to do is change the negative thoughts. Think about this: you've just learned an important lesson about yourself and the universe. Now that you can see it, you can change it. Before this happened your blinkers were well and truly on; now they are off, and you are wiser because of it. This is not a disaster. It's not even a pothole in the road. Look on it as an opportunity and move ahead.
There is most probably a disconnect between your thoughts and your actions to consider as well. Look at what you did and what the result was closely. If you thought one thing and did another, perhaps you didn't really believe you would be able to achieve your goal. If this is the case, try a smaller goal within the large one, and aim for that instead. When you achieve it, move onto the next, and then the next.
They key here is to live in the now. What has happened in the past does not need to determine your present, or future. Once you realize this, you will begin to see where you are sabotaging yourself and change the result. It takes practice, but is well worth the effort.
